Finestra endins
Finestra endins stems from an idea that is as everyday as it is revealing: today, we no longer look at the world only through an architectural window, but also —and very often— through a digital one: the screen of a mobile phone. The installation brings these two ways of looking into dialogue and understands the window not only as a boundary between inside and outside, but also as a device that shapes the way we perceive, imagine and represent the world.
When we ask a device to show us Barcelona, what often appears is not the lived, diverse and contradictory city we inhabit, but a filtered, polished version designed to be looked at: a postcard image. Finestra endins reverses this gaze and shifts the focus towards intimate and everyday spaces, where the city is also built day after day.
The installation brings together more than ninety scenes of domestic interiors that reveal the human fabric of Barcelona. Windows, rooms, objects, gestures and fragments of life form a collective portrait of the city, created from within, that highlights inhabited architecture and the many different ways of living it.
As part of the celebration of Barcelona as World Capital of Architecture 2026, the project offers a sensitive and contemporary reading of the city: not through its most iconic image, but through the closeness of the spaces that hold everyday life.
The original project was commissioned by Barcelona City Council, through Barcelona Activa, for Integrated Systems Europe — ISE 2026.
