Barcelona hosts the 47th Congress of the International Academy of Ceramics

Today the 47th Congress and General Assembly for the International Academy of Ceramics (AIC) was presented. It will take place in the Auditorium of the Disseny Hub Barcelona, with over 300 professionals from the world of ceramics between September 12 and 16. The congress, organized by the AIC, Associació Ceramistes de Catalunya (ACC) and the Barcelona Design Museum has as its main theme "Ceramics in architecture and public spaces.

The Barcelona Design Museum, as coorganizer, is taking part with the exhibition Brick by Brick: Ceramics Applied to Architecture, which highlights the role of ceramics in architecture over the past 12,000 years.

Coinciding with the Congress, the Joan Miró Foundation, the National Art Museum of Catalonia, the Picasso Museum, the Sant Pau Modernista, the CCAM - Catalonia and Crafts School of Art and Disseny Llotja, among others have up to 13 scheduled exhibitions of ceramics in the city of Barcelona.

It is the most important even in the sector and brings together the top experts, creators, business, artists and collectors from the world of ceramics. There are over 30 sessions of debates, round tables and conferences with internationally renowned presenters, such as Chinese architect Wang Shu, winner of the Pritzker for architecture, and the ceramist Toni Cumella, who will host the opening conference.

The congress has received support from the Generalitat de Catalunya, the City Council of Barcelona, the Provinical Government of Barcelona, the Provinical Government of Girona, UNESCO and the Spanish Association of Ceramic Cities. (AeCC).
