A 2017 Full of Exhibitions

The Design Museum presents its 2017 exhibition program. Over the next year, there are a total of three new exhibitions programmed and Brick by Brick. Ceramics Applied to Architecture, which is dedicated to the uses, functions, symbolism and esthetics of ceramics will close on January 29. 

Running from March 8 until May 21 is Tapas. Spanish Design for Food. The exhibition which is organized by Acción Cultural Española (ACE) and has been presented in Tokyo, Miami and Madrid, explores the interaction between design and gastronomy. Curated by architect and designer, Juli Capella, the exhibition will also include a program of workshops, conferences and parallel activities. 

The successful and pioneering restrospective by the Victoria and Albert Museum, David Bowie Is will run in Spain exclusively at the Design Museum of Barcelona. The exhibition brings together 300 objects, that include photographs, original costumes, set designs and unpublished concert material by the artist from the past five decades and facilitated by the David Bowie Archive. The exhibition runs until May 25 and tickets went on sale January 9. 

Finally, from December 2, 2017, until February 18, 2018, the exhibition curated by Pilar Parcerisas Adolf Loos. Espais privats is being presented for the first time in Spain. The event is an extensive exhibition of the Viennese architect's work, who was a pioneer in the debate about public and private spaces. The exhibition is a coproduction between the Barcelona Design Museum and the Obra Social “la Caixa”.

In addition to the presentations, the Museum will continue with the programming of its semipermanent exhibitions including: From the World to the Museum. Product Design, Cultural HeritageExtraordinary! Collections of Decorative and Author-Centred Art, and Dressing the body. Silhouettes and fashion (1550-2015).
